The Liverpool Fine Arts Hall of Fame has announced that on May 31, 2009,

I still am not quite sure where the idea to nominate me came from. Any good ideas for ’fine arts’

Hall of Fame 2008

I attended the Liverpool Fine Arts Hall of Fame induction ceremony today. I have been able to make this an annual pilgrimage
for four years, and my only excuse for missing the first two ceremonies is that I literally didn’t know about the HoF.
With my ongoing audio project and the 2005 reunion, I have been quite visible to VITAL, so now this annual pilgrimage is
greeted at the auditorium door each year by old and new friends, and that makes it very enjoyable for me.
I spoke with Tom Minardi after the ceremony, and we agreed that the Liverpool Youth Voices choral group directed by Lisa Cowles
is startlingly good! I have been able to meet children of alumni friends, and I hope those kids know how important our alumni
friendships are after all these years. Don Lohr was present, and you may recall that he had bypass surgery in 2007, so all in all,
it was a great trip from Rochester to Liverpool.

Audio project presented to VITAL

I attended a board meeting of VITAL in March (see the home page for more on VITAL).
We discussed the current state of the audio project, that is, 41 compact disks full of 1970s audio.
This digital form allows easy distribution, and uses beyond alumni listening. The collection complements
the Hall of Fame. If you have ideas for ways to use or maintain the collection, let me know.
VITAL offers a couple good programs such as the Hall of Fame and an annual career night.
We talked about fostering an internet community of music and drama alumni. The music department still
does great things. Go see a concert some time, or attend the Hall of Fame ceremony on June 1.

CD creation resuming soon

I have been working on giving web site readers the ability to comment on blog items directly from their browser,
and that feature is pretty much working, and I added this blog page. Prior to that, I had been busy finalizing audio CDs.
I have the tracks on my hard drive, but I need to create the actual burn projects. Several are done; click the
home icon at right for the Liverpool HS Music page and follow the links to see the recording list. The request process is
a bit verbose, but it really just comes down to sending me blank disks and return postage in return for recordings.
